February 2013 has been a big one for me in many ways–being out in the spotlight, collaborating with other amazing teachers, and trusting that what wants to emerge in my life is what I am here to do!

This poem spilled out at the beginning of the month and I’d love to share it with you as I look forward to the Self-Love Mini Retreat with Christine Arylo this weekend.

Altar to my smaller self

Altar to my smaller self

to my smaller self

I pay homage
to my smaller self–
the one I was,
that now I see,
knew so little
and erred so much.

dearest smaller self,
I hold you close.
I protect you
from shame
and from regret.
I cherish you–
not because
you were right,
or because we
were always kind

Thank you for holding me while I grew

Thank you for holding me while I grew

–but because
you are the one
who brought me here.
you are the one
who made me
who I am today.

dearest smaller self,
thank you for
holding me
while I grew!

…as I,
in turn, am held
–as the sacred
smaller self
of who
I am yet to be.

Altar inspired by the work of Donna Klein, LMFT. Thank you Donna!
