“EVANSTON – Yvonne Mayfield grew up in poverty, and now she wants to make sure our city’s youth don’t have to do the same.
‘I want to give back,” she explained. “I grew up in poverty. It wasn’t easy, but me and my siblings survived.’
So on Saturday morning, the Price Hill resident attended the Child Poverty Collaborative community summit, an event hosted by a task force of business, civic and nonprofit leaders dedicated to lifting 10,000 children and 5,000 families out of poverty in five years.”
