My Inner Critics almost made me do it…or rather almost not do it…
Four years ago, two of my Inner Mean Girls (the despicable duo of “Miss Originality”+ “Miss Sophistication”) ganged up to almost stop me from making one of the very best moves I’ve made in my life and career.
They almost stopped me from reaching out to fellow Inner-Critic crusaders, Amy Ahlers and Christine Arylo of Inner Mean Girl Reform School.
Inner Critics “Miss O” and “Miss S” spun bullsh*t stories like…
- they’ll sue you for “stealing their work”
- they’ll feel threatened by you and your Inner Crtic Kryptonite work–and retaliate
- they’re big time–who are you to talk to them? why would they want to play with you?
- they got there first, you lost the “race” to get this content out there
But (after some serious Inner Critic busting!)
…my Inner Wisdom prevailed.
Fear was foiled. I did reach out. And want to know what they did?
They hired me!
I went on to coach for their Inner Mean Girl Reform School that summer, assist & teach at their retreats and programs, coach their clients, and become one of their Head Inner Wisdom Coaches. I got to see–from the inside–how to be wildly successful in full integrity, doing what you are called to do. Priceless. Delicious. Transformational!
Christine & Amy are the real deal and have become amazing friends, mentors, and co-conspirators in transforming Inner Critics everywhere…. and now they’ve birthed their new book!
Reform Your Inner Mean Girl: 7 Steps to Stop Bullying Yourself & Start Loving Yourself
Special Book Bonus Video:
I shot this video for the Inner Wisdom Kit (a huge kit of freebies when you get the book!) when I was visiting Amy last week in San Francisco. In this special bonus video you get a sneak peak at Miss Sophistication’s transformation into a paper bag puppet.
short. sweet. funny!

What is Your Inner Critic Making you do? …or NOT do?
Inner Critic taming is not a one-shot deal– it’s a life-long practice. My Inner Critics even tried to stop me from writing this blog post! It took half a day of procrastination and about 10 minutes of free-writing that Inner Critic bullsh*t in my journal to bust through that…and get into the deeply enjoyable flow of writing something I’m passionate about. What is your Inner Critic making you do? or NOT do? I’d love to know in the comments below! I treasure your responses and respond to every one.
And if those Inner Mean Girls are shouting too loud for you to answer, I have got just the book for you! –>Reform Your Inner Mean Girl: 7 Steps to Stop Bullying Yourself & Start Loving Yourself : a pretty awesome prescription for giving up negative self-talk and stopping self-sabotage. And I’m not just saying that because I’m mentioned the book. twice. 😉
Have a rockin’ week! (I am off on a 4-day painting retreat. Yum!)
